California Providers: Live Virtual HIV PrEP Navigation Certification (HIVPNC)

Join HealthHIV virtually on April 21 and 23, 2026 from 9:30am – 1:00pm Pacific to earn the HIV PrEP Navigation Certification (HIVPNC). The HIVPNC is the only national certification program that prepares providers and allied health professionals to guide community members in initiating, using, and staying engaged in PrEP care.

This live virtual, interactive program provides California-based healthcare professionals with the knowledge, skills, and tools to deliver high-quality PrEP navigation by combining evidence-based strategies with practical application. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in case-based learning, network with peers, and connect with leaders in the field, making this a unique opportunity to elevate or solidify your expertise and advance HIV prevention in your community.

By successfully completing this free program, individuals will:

  • Demonstrate their commitment to delivering patient-centered PrEP navigation services
  • Develop skills to educate clients about PrEP and identify appropriate options
  • Help clients access and maintain PrEP through insurance navigation, financial assistance, and ongoing support
  • Earn the HealthHIV HIV PrEP Navigation Certification
  • Receive up to 6.0 CME/CE credits (CME, ABIM MOC, AAPA, NCPD, CPE, ASWB)
  • Receive a listing in the national online directory of HIVPNCs

Target Audience

This program is designed for PrEP navigators, disease intervention specialists, case managers, social workers, health educators, and other allied health professionals who support clients at risk for HIV. Physicians, PAs, NPs, nurses, pharmacists, and other clinicians involved in PrEP care are encouraged to participate.

Educational Objectives

After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

  • Describe the barriers patients face to initiating and adhering to PrEP and how providers and PrEP navigation staff can address these challenges through the health system
  • Summarize best practices for guiding patients to access PrEP medication, labs and clinic visits based on national and regional programming, industry-sponsored assistance programs, and insurance coverage
  • Establish safe spaces, deliver client-centered, culturally sensitive services and culturally- and linguistically-sensitive communication to help patients effectively navigate the PrEP care continuum

Accreditation, Credit, and Support

Participants can earn up to 6.0 credits/contact hours (CME, AAPA, ANCC, CPE, ASWB) for completion of this educational activity.

In support of improving patient care, HealthHIV, is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Physician Continuing Medical Education

HealthHIV designates this enduring material for a maximum of 6.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Physician Associate Credit Designation Statement

HealthHIV has been authorized by the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 6.0 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.

Nursing Continuing Professional Development

Social Worker Continuing Education

As a Jointly Accredited Organization, HealthHIV is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses are approved under this program.  Regulatory boards have the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. Social workers completing this course receive 6.0 general continuing education credit.

Method of Participation

There are no fees for participating in or receiving credit for this CE activity. In order to receive credit, learners must participate in the entire CE activity, complete the post-test and activity evaluation form and your certificate of credit will be generated. A passing score of 80% or higher is needed to obtain credit.  Your certificate will be available on eHealthHIV.org. For information on applicability and acceptance of continuing education credit for this CE activity, please consult your professional licensing board.

For Physicians requesting MOC credit, the post-test and evaluation are required in their entirety as well as your Board Unique ID number, DOB (MM/DD), and a score of 80% or higher is needed to obtain MOC credit (80% is required for ABS).

For Pharmacists, HealthHIV  will accept your completed evaluation form for up to 30 days post-activity and will report your participation to the NABP only if you provide your NABP e-Profile number and DOB (MM/DD). Within 6 weeks, you can view your participation record at the NABP website: https://nabp.pharmacy/.
