Title: Capacity Building Intern
Reports to: Intern Coordinator and Capacity Building Manager

HealthHIV’s Capacity Building Team works to enhance the ability of both clinical (primary care clinics, STD clinics, community health centers, hospitals) and non-clinical (AIDS service organizations, health departments, other nonprofits) organizations to improve patient outcomes. HealthHIV organizes regional trainings and provides individualized, on-site technical assistance and collects, analyzes, and distributes research on a variety of topics, including barriers to care, best practices for medical providers, and partnerships for non-clinical and clinical organizations. Since the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, the need for comprehensive training and assistance is greater than ever for health departments, clinics, and patients. Responsibilities may include:

  • Preparing presentations and planning for trainings
  • Designing surveys to assess the needs of community-based organizations and healthcare providers
  • Gathering data and reporting on findings
  • Developing content for informational pamphlets
  • Attending conferences and meetings
  • Participating on webinars and calls with governmental, academic, and nonprofit agencies

Desired Qualifications:

  • A strong interest in health care, health policy, or public health
  • Excellent writing skills and research capabilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to think creatively and work well in groups
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Willingness and ability to work autonomously, with direction and support
